Mongolian Ger Camp
After a bumpy journey aboard an invincible mini-bus we arrive in the middle of nowhere for our Ger camp stay.
A Ger is a huge tent, with proper beds and an enormous wood burning heater in the centre. For the first time in a week we were warm, clean and comfortable.
A hearty meal, followed by several beers, resulted in a fantastic night's sleep.
The next day yet more superb food, a bit of hiking, some horse riding where we visited a nomad (yes, I rode a horse) and another night of beer.
In the morning we returned to the city. We visited the dinosaur museum, seeing the fossils they dug up in th Gobi desert, just down the road.
Tomorrow (Thursday 4th) we board the train for the last leg to Beijing, it will only take about 36 hours so we've no worries. At the Chinese border they switch the train's wheels as the tracks are a different width. This will definitely be cold and hopefully quite interesting. After the border the train follows the Great Wall for several hundred kms arriving into Beijing mid-afternoon.
Next update should be from Beijing, just before we fly to Japan.
